With its sound processor, the company Kronoton from Reinbek near Hamburg has developed the solution for perfect background sound in rooms: With just one push of a button on the HDSX-box, volume fluctuations and sound holes are a thing of the past. From now on, the music is distributed evenly throughout the room at the desired volume – relaxed shopping is now possible. The HDSX-box intelligently adjusts the volume of all tracks played in real time so that the music always remains at the same volume, but still lively and accentuated. In addition, it fills sound holes in the room. This means: Normally, where a loudspeaker is installed, there is concentrated sound (often too loud) and between the loudspeakers there is too little sound (too quiet). With the HDSX-box, the entire room is evenly filled with sound. At numerous places of use, the properties have been confirmed, customers have reacted positively. They describe the music as perceptible and pleasant to listen to. Often regular customers notice the change immediately and give positive feedback. Martin Rosenboom from HORST Baumarkt also confirms the effect in his shop: “With HDSX, we have an even volume throughout the shop with the best intelligibility”. The application is absolutely simple: The HDSX-box is simply plugged in between the music player and the amplifier of the existing sound system. This already optimises the sound. No conversion of the existing system is necessary – simply plug and play. Kronoton presents the HDSX-box for the first time at the BOE 2019 as an exhibitor in Dortmund. For demonstration purposes, the lounge area of ESG’s joint stand has been equipped with the technology, enabling a sound demo under the toughest live conditions. In addition, Kronoton Managing Director Gunnar Kron will give a lecture entitled “How background music can relax our senses” in the supporting programme of the TECHNOLOGY & SCENOGRAPHY FORUM on both days. Ideal location: the P.O.S. No matter whether it’s a retail store, shopping centre or wholesale market: music is part of the basic equipment and – if presented correctly – contributes significantly to the customers’ feeling of well-being. However, every piece of music has different dynamics, depending on the genre and type of production. It usually starts softly and increases in the chorus, then flattens out again. Consequently, a consistently reliable volume on the floor can never be reliably set without the HDSX-box. The result is well known: The background music is either too loud or too quiet. In short: the music is either not understood, only fragments are perceived at all or it is too present. Thus, the selected music programme does not pay off for the company’s brand values, and can even become an annoyance for customers and employees. “That’s where the HDSX-box comes in. We analyse the music played in real time and adjust the different music components to the selected volume. Thus, for the first time, a uniform sound reinforcement of the highest quality is possible,” says Gunnar Kron, developer of HDSX and Managing Director of Kronoton.
